American Cornhole Soft Touch Bags (Review)
« Thread Started on Jul 7, 2008, 6:14pm »

I just received my ACO bags in the mail today. I wanted to try something new out, since they were reported to be microfiber (suade like) exterior and resin filled. Also because this is what is used at many of the ACO tournaments. I was pleasantly surprised by the carry bag that they came in. It can be doubled as a back pack. The bags (4 blue and 4 red) were as reported, microfiber exterior. The stitching looked good, but I had reservations about how they would perform on my board slide wise. The first thing that I think of when I here "resin filled" is the lack of slide. So, I went outside, set up my home made boards, and yes, I was right. When you tossed them and they hit the board, the slide wasn't really there. They may slide a bit due to forward motion, but not too much. It really depends on your arc and forward propelling motion.

Now, don't get me wrong, they feel really nice in the palm of the hand and toss well, but my only reservation is with the slide. Many may attribute this to me using my board vice an ACO board, but don't be so quick to judge. I tossed this inside my house on my ceramic tile and pergo floor too and no slide, so I had a feeling the same was in store for me outside before I went. I'm sure that I can overcome this as I hone in on my area that I need the bag to land in to make a cornhole, but comparing these to my other preferred bags that are filled with corn and have a subtle slide, well, the ACO bags would come in second place.

So, overall I would give the bags a 8 out of 10 based soley on the slide factor. I wish the ACO would offer both types, corn filled and resin filled bags. I understand why they offer the resin filled bags, to keep everything on an even playing field, since corn filled bags shed weight overtime. However, if they offered the corn filled bags too as a choice I think they would make more sales and it would be shown that the Corn filled bags are superior over the resin filled bags due to the corn dust providing an ever so slight (needed) slide. Just my 2 cents.

You can buy these bags and their quality boards HERE

UPDATE NOTE: My son and wife now prefer these bags since they haven't mastered the slide technique with the Corn bags. They like how these stop without a lot of slide. So, for some, these may be the bags to get.

We at http://www.STLCornhole.com now carry the resin filled, double sided (one side microfiber and one side duck cloth) pro bags like the ACO double sided bags (not pictured above). The ones pictured above all all microfiber. The double sided bags allows the pro to choose which side lands on the board. Check out item # 002 at http://www.STLCornhole.com

  • Microfiber side = no slide
  • Duck cloth side = slide
  • Resin fill = waterproof & lasts a long, long, long time!
